eco-theatre | USITT Design Expo 2023
The production blended performance, multimedia, live foley, and dining to tell the story of Jeff’s climate anxiety and his decisions to “do the right thing” to the world. The set design incorporated collected materials that are considered trash to create an environmental installation embracing the audience in a black box. The shape reassembled “Billy the fish” a character who lived inside Jeff’s memories while providing stimulation of the environment where Billy came from. Patrons entered the space as if going into Jeff’s family seafood restaurant and getting inside Billy’s world.
